Download Does Not Start

There are many reasons why an Internet download may not start. We provide ample server and connection capacity. Here are some things you can try:

Although rare, the FTP server(s) may be temporarily at capacity or experiencing some type of problem. The solution is to try again soon or at a later time. If you are behind a firewall (such as is often the case in a corporate environment), try using the "alternate" link for the download. This uses a different FTP server that is available to more firewalls. If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer (3.x and above) under Windows NT, you may need to use the address of the root of the ftp site (www.tactronics.com) and from there, follow the links to the location of the file. If you receive the message: "unable to connect" from your Web or ftp software, it is possible your DNS host is having problems locating the server. Try using the actual IP address: 208.165.194.11 (instead of tactronics.com) If you use America On-Line (AOL), problems downloading may be issues with AOL. Please contact AOL for assistance.

Download Starts But Does Not Complete

There are many reasons why an Internet download, once successfully started, can be incomplete. We provide ample server and connection capacity. Here are some things you can try to improve your downloads:

You will get best results with a clean and fast connection that does not automatically time out. A direct Internet connection, if available, is typically far better than a modem connection.
Our FTP servers can resume broken downloads. You may want to try a download-helping program such as GetRight* or Bullet Proof FTP* that offer their own error handling and resuming of downloads.

(*Note: There are other fine programs, both commercial and shareware. Tactronics does not endorse or support any particular products mentioned.)
